MAKING A CONTRIBUTION

Learn to contribute at every meeting.

Try not to always quiet and passive. Contribute by expressing your original ideas. Talk with your firm voice and be logical. Review all alternatives, each with sharp analysis.

LEARN TO ACCEPT CRITICISM

It is understandable that at the beginning is difficult to accept constructive criticism with an open heart from others. However, please do try objectively evaluating yourselves. Thank the person who criticizes you if in fact his criticism is valid. Commit to a continuous self-improvement program immediately.

TALK LIKE A PRO ON THE PHONE

Always answer the phone using a standard answering sentence:

”Good morning, James speaking, may I help you?”

GIVE ATTENTION

While being on a business trip abroad or out of town, set aside some of your allowance to purchase small gifts such as key ring or bottle opener. Give it alternately to secretaries, office boys, security officers, and other employees at the lowest level.

DON’T BE SHY

If anything is unclear, please do ask. Don’t be shy, because what started as shyness at the beginning could develop to becoming an embarrassment moment.

COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE

Digital era is already started and would continue to spread at very rapid pace. Internet would be here to stay and many experts already accept the great usefulness of Internet. Once a month, buy a computer magazine. Spare your time to learn software and hardware.

MAKE READING A HABIT

Be it at the airport, waiting for your children at school, or at home before falling asleep; make a habit of bringing an unread book.

LEARN ONE NEW THING EVERYDAY

No one will help you except yourselves. Improve your skill capabilities every day. Remember the real world competition would be getting tougher each day. The trend is toward employees with multi skill capabilities. Ensure that, if necessary, you could become secretary, chauffeur, office boy, manager, director, and commissioner.

BE YOURSELF

Don’t try to be someone else. You are you. Trying to be someone else would only make you look awkward (as if you are acting on a shop opera). Trust that your style is the most appropriate for yourselves and be proud of it.

DISCIPLINE

Practice self-discipline by all means. Always prepare a work schedule and try to stick with it.

Do weekly evaluation and make some improvements.

Plan-do-check-improve… Plan-do-check-improve…

SPORT

Do some sport at least once a week.

Master the kind of sport, which usually played by business people like golf.

However, if that is not possible, do some sport by walking around the nearest sport stadium or around the place where you live once a week.

TIME

Never give out reason: “I don’t have the time!” because we are all given the same amount of time within a day, which is 24 hours.

INNOVATION

Try to look for fresh innovation at work.

Suppose your job is selling a particular product, think the possibility to also sell the training.
